What were your plans for the summer? What are your plans now? Why not spend your holidays adventuring with God? We are setting sail on a cruise but there is plenty of hiking and climbing and of course a picnic too.
This 'Holiday at Home' has been created by the Growing Faith team in the Diocese of Coventry (with many people contributing to it). We realise that many churches will not be able to run their normal holiday clubs this year and that creating something virtual or for the home can be a huge amount of work. Whether you are a church looking to run something or a family looking for a way to connect as a family, this has everything you need and is completely flexible to adapt.
This resource is free to use and to adapt.
Do send us photos, reflections and highlights because it would be lovely to see how your summer goes and what you do! The 'Keep in touch' page makes it very easy to contact us.
How it works
There are five sessions but it has been designed to be flexible for churches and families to be creative in how to use it. You may run it as a holiday week or chose a day a week over the summer holidays. You may run it virtually or post it out to run at home. There are some different ideas on the 'Info for' pages.
Each session has:
A creative prayer
A worship song (always a video)
A passport reflection (A moment to pause and add to the downloadable passport)
Meal chatter (Suggested questions to reflect later in the day)
Venture out (something to explore God in nature and the outdoors)
If you are running it as a church, do have a look at the 'Info for churches' page before you get started for important details and some helpful tips and ideas. This includes ideas for how to run it, ways to bless those taking part and publicity.
If you are running it as a family then do have a look at the 'Info for families' page with handy tips and ideas to make the most out of the sessions together. This includes ideas for creating space and choosing the best time for you.
The Resources page has images, and printable notes and activities for the sessions too.
